About

Welcome! Let’s Start Your IT Journey

Hey there! If you’ve found yourself here, chances are you’re either exploring the world of IT, thinking about earning some certifications, or maybe just looking to brush up on your tech skills. Whatever brought you here, I’m glad you stopped by—and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.

Let me tell you a little bit about how I ended up hosting this site.

From Childhood Passion to Rekindled Interest

Back in the early 1980s, I was completely captivated by the PC revolution. I remember those early days of floppy disks, green text screens, and the thrill of learning how computers worked. But as I got older, life took me in a different direction. That childhood passion for computers? It got boxed up somewhere along with my Texas Instruments T-99/4A.

A Challenge to Find a Hobby

Fast forward a few decades: My wife (rightfully) pointed out that I didn’t have any discernible hobbies. I was always working—whether it was on my career, household tasks, or other responsibilities. She encouraged me to find something I truly enjoyed outside of my day-to-day obligations. So, I tried rekindling my guitar skills, did some fly fishing, went hiking—and while I enjoyed all of those, something was still missing. Then it hit me: why not revisit my nerdy love for technology?

Starting Small and Building Momentum

A couple of years ago, I quietly started studying IT in my spare time. Just a little bit here and there—an hour after work, a quick lesson on the weekend. I realized that to make progress, I needed structure and accountability. That’s when I decided to pursue some entry-level IT certifications. Using amazing free resources created by others, I managed to earn a few certifications on my own (CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, and more).

Why I Created This Site

That’s when I had an idea: Why not create teaching videos to reinforce my learning, maybe even encouraging and equipping others.

This site was born out of my desire to create something for two specific types of learners. First, I want to help those with little-to-no IT background. Maybe you’ve always been curious about technology but don’t know where to start. If so, you're someone I'd like to help. Second, I want to encourage those coming to IT later in life, whether as a hobby, a new skill for their career, or even the first step toward a new job. 40? 50? 60? 70? 80? 90? Who cares how old? I don't. Pedal to the metal, baby!

Learning Together, Step by Step

I’m not here as a tech guru (far from it!), just a fellow student who understands what it’s like to start (or restart) from scratch. I know the ups and downs of learning something new—the moments when things click and the times when you wonder if your brain has a memory leak. Through it all, I’ve found that persistence, a sense of humor, and a willingness to take small, consistent steps can lead to growth.
